The National Curriculum 2014 breaks the content into KS1, 2 and 3. However, there is no specified sequence in which to teach the units of work. You can also exceed the specification. However, it is important to remember what the children have learned previously to ensure their increasing knowledge and skill-bases are developed throughout the curriculum.
When planning, ensure you take into account the aims, subject content paragraph as well as the specific bullet point objective. That will help develop coherence within and across units of work.
